David Kaff dies: This is the death of 79-year-old spinal faucet actor

Actor and musician David Kaff, who plays keyboardist Viv Savage in cult movie This is the spinal faucet. Already dead. He is 79 years old.

“David always has a friendly word and a quick wit that can kill your position. Then, he will make you smile!

Kaff was born in England on April 17, 1946 and started playing the piano at the age of five.

At the age of 10, he found Rock’N’Roll singers Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Bill Haley. He became a founding member of Progressive Rock Group Rare Bird in 1969 and later released five albums.

The band’s biggest hit song is the 1970 song pityranked 27th in the UK singles rankings, selling about 1 million copies.

The band broke up in 1975 and he joined the gas, which brought him to the United States.

Kaff was played as keyboardist Viv Savage in the 1984 comedy movie This is the spinal faucet. It is a documentary producer played by film director and co-author Rob Reiner, who follows the fictional British band Spine tap dance, known as “one of England’s loudest bands” on their American tour.

When asked about his life’s motto, Kaff published one of the most memorable quotes in the movie: “Always happy…” 

Starring Michael McKean, Harry Shearer and Christopher Guest, the film was released with good reviews but was only a wide range of commercial success, but in the decades that followed, it won followers of the cult and became known for launching the genre of the film.

The actors reunited for some rare performances of the spine faucet, including at Wolfgang in San Francisco.

Kaff told BAM in 1991 that he had a lot of feelings for the character Viv Savage, even if many fans in the movie had a hard time telling the difference between facts and novels.

“Someone really wrote me and released it Viv Savage On the envelope,” he said.

“I have a great relationship with viv.

“I’m very close to him in my heart. A little dim. If people like that character, they’ll probably like me.”

After the film ended, he returned to his musical roots and joined the band model citizen.

Back in 1991, Kaff said Spine faucet sequel Again, starring Michael McKean, Christopher’s guest and Harry Shearer.

He told BAM at the time: “I just wish I was everything they did”.

But it took 40 years to start Spine Faucet II: End Continuescheduled to be released in September 2025. Sadly, Kaff doesn’t seem to be part of the sequel.

Ray Herron, a former band member of Kaff, was one of those who left a tribute, recalled when he first auditioned for the Barbarian.

“I remember his excitement about him telling us he was going to go to a movie or part of the movie,” he wrote.

“I was eager to hear it develop in our next rehearsal, but I quickly felt sad when I felt the experience he described. It was like that.’ I would never get this part.

“It turns out that he is known to be the person they are looking for. We are happy for him.

“He linked us to the work that took several days.

“We lost the keyboard player, but it was great to see David.”
